Training Competition Last updated on : 21/09/06

Every Wednesday we take part in our training competition. The events here are many and varied and include short sprints, pace judgement, circuit training and biathlons (as well as our monthly races). Points are awarded each week and the top three at the end of each quarter receive trophies. Again, handicapping is used to ensure we all have an equal chance of (not) winning. Our average turn out over the last few months has again been around twenty.

One of the training events each quarter is a one mile race so that we can see who is closest to Roger Bannister. We have also instigated a 2x1 mile relay which takes place on the last Wednesdays in April and October. There is a shield for the winner (on handicap) of the mile race and a magnificent cup for the winners of the relay.

A reasonably recent innovation has been the introduction of some team spirit. Each runner belongs to one of (currently) seven teams and their performances count towards a team prize at the end of the quarter. Full details of all our events and results are contained in the members area.
